A gentle reminder on joy, abundance, and happiness in everyday life
Today I want to bring your focus back to something simple, yet deeply transformative:
what you focus on, creates more of it.
Happiness creates more happiness.
Joy creates more joy.
Abundance creates more abundance.
And lack creates more lack.
Happiness is not something you reach after life changes. It’s something that, in my opinion, you learn to access here and now, no matter which situation you are currently in. This doesn’t mean giving up on your goals. It doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine or denying your reality.
What it does mean is understanding that happiness creates more happiness, just like abundance creates more abundance. And in the same way, living in lack, frustration, or anger tends to create more of the same.
You can’t generate joy from frustration.
You can’t find light by staring at darkness.
So the work is intentional focus on what you want to experience more of. Indeed when you intentionally shift your focus from what’s missing to what’s already here — and allow yourself to feel gratitude and joy — your reality begins to shift.
I often imagine the Eye of Sauron in The Lord of the Rings: everything is dark, and only what the eye illuminates becomes visible. Your attention — and the way your subconscious is reprogrammed — works in a very similar way.
Even in a difficult phase of life, you can consciously choose to place light somewhere: on what is working, on what brings you joy, on what is already abundant. A roof over your head. Running water, available whenever you open the tap. A job. A soft, warm blanket. A delicious, nourishing home-made meal. The ability to see, hear, speak, write. A body that carries you. The beauty of a snowflake that pauses on your glove. Someone you love who smiles when they see you. So many of these things are easily taken for granted. And yet, when you pause and imagine how life would feel without them, something shifts. You may suddenly experience abundance, gratitude, or quiet joy.
The shift doesn’t happen by rushing through gratitude as another task on your to-do list. That doesn’t create change. That doesn’t create a real shift.
What creates change is allowing yourself to pause, to feel, to let the experience land in your body and in your heart.
The more you take these intentional, mindful pauses in your everyday life, the more things begin to shift.
These moments are small drops of light. But drops of light change your nervous system. They change your subconscious. They change what you start creating more of.
You’re not surrendering your desires. You’re creating the emotional environment in which they can actually grow.
With warmth,
Martina
